What the app stores on your device

The phone itself holds: your devices with their names, addresses and — if you set them up — their credentials, your dashboards, groups and schedules, and your settings.

This data is never sent to us. It belongs to the app on your device and disappears with it when you delete it. If you create a backup file, you decide yourself where it goes.

When the app reaches outside

1. “Your ideas”

The only screen through which you send us something yourself. It is voluntary; if you never open it, nothing is sent.

What is transmitted:

• Your text. Whatever you write into the box.
• A random ID. The app generates it itself the first time and stores it on your device. It is not a device ID and not an advertising ID, and it says nothing about you or your phone. Its only purpose is to tell two votes from the same installation apart. If you reinstall the app, you get a new one.
• Your language setting, so the list comes back in your language.
• Your IP address, as with every request on the internet. It is not stored: to prevent mass submissions we compute a checksum from it that cannot be reversed. That value expires after two days at most.

Please note: what you write into the text box is up to you. If you put your name, your address or your email address in there, we store it along with the rest. We do not need that — please write only about the matter at hand.

How long: suggestions are kept for as long as the feature exists. The original text you submitted is kept as well, even once we have written a shortened version of it for display.

Recipients: nobody. The service runs on our own web space, rented from the following provider, who acts as a processor on our behalf:

2. Licence and restoring purchases

This does not affect every user. The connection only happens if an earlier purchase of the previous version is found on your Android device, or if you start the recovery yourself using an order number.

What is transmitted is Google’s proof of purchase, or your order number — we use it to check with Google whether the purchase is valid, and then issue you a licence confirmation. Plus the IP address again, handled exactly as above.

We receive no payment data, no card number and no postal address.

3. The map in the time zone setting

If you open the map in the settings to pick a place, the app loads the map tiles from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org). Their server thereby learns which section of the map is being loaded, and your IP address. That is a connection to a third party, not to us.

If you do not open the map, this does not happen.

4. Place search and location

If you search for a place using the input field, or have your location determined by the phone, the app uses your operating system’s services (Apple or Google) for that. The request goes there, not to us. The location serves only to find the right time zone for your devices, and stays on your device.

And when you buy

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple and Google. We only see whether a valid licence exists — never your payment data. Their own privacy terms apply there.

What we do not do

• No advertising and no advertising identifiers
• We build no analytics, statistics or crash-reporting tools into the app — it contains no such component at all
• No passing data to third parties for advertising purposes
• No profiling, no recognising you across devices

Separate from this is whatever Apple and Google collect at their own level — crash reports, for instance, if you have allowed that in your phone’s settings. That happens outside the app; their own privacy terms apply to it.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Please write to support@tasmotrol.com.

One peculiarity we state openly: in “Your ideas” we deliberately store nothing that points to you. So while we can delete a suggestion at any time, we cannot tell which suggestion came from whom. In that case, please tell us which entry you mean and we will remove it.

We update this statement when the app changes. The authoritative version is the one published here, bearing the date given above.
